The Armenian Society of New Zealand (ASNZ) was established in 1996 by a small group of individuals with Armenian heritage, and their family members. This was a time when several new families had immigrated to Auckland, New Zealand from various parts of the world, and the formation of the Society gave everyone an opportunity to connect and support each other.
Nowadays, the Society aims to aid and facilitate the preservation of the Armenian identity amongst the Armenians of New Zealand, as well as being a central point of contact for anyone seeking to learn more about Armenia and Armenians.
The Armenian Society of New Zealand is governed by a team of community elected volunteers.
